UK agencies buy white-label delivery for a simple reason: they can sell the work and they cannot staff it this quarter. UK operators buy offshore teams for a similar reason: the local market for senior engineers is expensive and slow.

Both purchases fail when GDPR is treated as a privacy policy URL and the delivery team is treated as interchangeable labour.

This sits next to our longer GDPR, data residency, and offshore development guide. Here the audience is specifically UK firms looking at white-label or remote build capacity.

We quote in GBP. We overlap UK afternoons. We do not have a London office. The UK page exists so that is explicit.

White-label is a contract shape, not a discount

If you are an agency, you need:

  • No contact between our team and your client unless you request it
  • A mutual non-solicit
  • IP that lands with you (or with your client, as your MSA already says)
  • A named engineer, not a rotating bench
  • An exit that leaves you with the repo

If a vendor will not put those in writing, they are a subcontractor with a marketing site. Our white-label partnership is built around that shape.

If you are the end client, skip the white-label layer. You want the same engineering, with GBP invoices in your name, and the repo in your organisation.

GDPR questions that are not optional

Ask these before kickoff, not after the first production dataset is copied into a staging app.

  1. Who is controller and who is processor? If you are an agency, you may be a processor for your client and we are a sub-processor. That has to be documented.
  2. Where will personal data live? Hosting region, backups, logs, and email tools all count.
  3. Who can access production? Named people, MFA, no shared passwords in a WhatsApp group.
  4. What is the deletion path? When the engagement ends, copies should not linger on laptops.
  5. Is there a DPA, and does it match the actual tools? A DPA that names none of the subprocessors is theatre.

UK GDPR after Brexit is close to the EU regime for these purposes. Do not let a vendor wave “we’re not in Europe” as a reason to skip the paperwork. The opposite is true.

If the answer is “data cannot leave the UK,” believe it. Either host accordingly or hire a UK team. Pretending an Indian laptop is a UK region will not survive a serious buyer.

Hours and money

IST to the UK is 4.5–5.5 hours. Afternoon standups work. Late-evening pairing every day does not, unless you pay for it.

Sterling quotes remove a class of invoice surprise. Reverse charge may apply if you are VAT-registered. Put that on the quote so finance is not discovering it in month two.

A short process

  1. Write the data types you will actually process.
  2. Decide white-label vs direct.
  3. Run a two-week paid pilot with a staging environment in the intended region.
  4. Sign DPA + MSA together, not MSA first and “legal later.”

The rest of the vetting — live URLs, IP, milestones — is in how to hire an offshore development team.

If that matches how you buy, the commercial URLs are software development for UK businesses and white-label delivery. If you need a team in Shoreditch five days a week, hire that team.
